1. Scope
This Privacy Policy explains how EchoNote Lecture, developed by QianMo (“we,” “us,” or “the developer”), handles information when you use the iOS or iPadOS application, this website, or the project’s support channel.
2. Summary
The app records and processes information needed for its features locally on your device. We do not receive or have access to that locally stored content.
3. Information processed on your device
Depending on the features you use, the app may process and store:
- Lecture audio captured after you grant microphone permission and start recording.
- English transcripts, word and sentence timestamps, and recognition-confidence information.
- Simplified Chinese translations and optional Apple Intelligence-polished translations.
- Lecture titles, course names, dates, durations, bookmarks, bookmark notes, transcript corrections, search state, and playback preferences.
- Photos you explicitly select to attach to a lecture.
- Recovery data used to restore an interrupted recording or unfinished language-processing task.
This information is stored in the app’s local container. It is not transmitted to or collected by the developer.
4. Apple system services
EchoNote Lecture uses Apple-provided technologies for microphone access, speech recognition, translation, photo selection, audio playback, sharing, and—on supported devices—Apple Intelligence language processing. Required speech or language models may be downloaded by the operating system. Apple’s handling of its services is governed by Apple’s own terms and privacy policies.
The application does not include a developer-operated cloud transcription or translation service and does not include third-party analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs.
5. Permissions
- Microphone: used only after you initiate recording, to create local lecture audio and an on-device transcript.
- Photos: the system photo picker lets you choose specific images to copy into a lecture. The app does not request unrestricted access to your photo library.
You can revoke permissions in iOS or iPadOS Settings. Revoking microphone access prevents new recordings but does not automatically delete existing lectures.
6. Sharing and exports
You may explicitly export or share a lecture as Markdown, SRT subtitles, or original audio using Apple’s share interface. Once you choose a destination or recipient, the exported copy is governed by that destination’s privacy practices. EchoNote Lecture does not automatically upload exports.
7. Retention and deletion
Local lecture content remains on your device until you delete the lecture or uninstall the app. Deleting a lecture removes its locally managed audio, transcript, translation, corrections, bookmarks, and attached photos through the app’s deletion workflow. Uninstalling the app removes its application container according to the operating system’s behavior.
Copies that you previously exported to Files, another app, another device, or another person must be deleted from those destinations separately. Because the developer does not receive your local lecture data, there is no developer server account or cloud record to delete.
8. Data collection, tracking, and advertising
The current version does not collect data from the app, track users across apps or websites, display advertising, sell personal information, or share lecture content with the developer or data brokers.
If a future version adds developer-operated networking, analytics, accounts, cloud synchronization, or another practice that changes this statement, this policy and the App Store privacy disclosures will be updated before that version is distributed.
9. Website and support
This website is hosted by GitHub Pages. When you visit it, GitHub may process technical information such as IP addresses and request logs under the GitHub General Privacy Statement. The EchoNote Lecture app does not embed this website in a web view; links open through the system.
Support is provided through GitHub Issues. Issue content and your GitHub profile information may be public. Do not submit recordings, transcripts, photos, student information, or other sensitive classroom content. Information you voluntarily provide for support is used only to investigate and respond to your request, subject also to GitHub’s privacy practices.
10. Children
EchoNote Lecture is designed as a general education and lecture-review tool and is not directed to children under 13 or offered in the App Store Kids Category. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
11. Recording consent and lawful use
You are responsible for obtaining any permission required before recording a lecture, discussion, instructor, or other participant. You must follow applicable laws, school policies, course rules, and requests from instructors or participants.
12. Changes to this policy
We may revise this policy when the app’s features, data practices, or legal obligations change. The effective date and last-updated date will identify the current version. Material changes will be published at this URL before or when the corresponding app version is released.
